At Askiy Witisanihitowak Society we work with Indigenous Aunties/Kookums who offer Cultural and Parenting Support in all areas of the life's journeys from the beginning of life to the end. As a collective with other organizations we are united by a shared goal of assisting young Indigenous parents, non Indigenous parents of Indigenous children and all people on their spiritual journeys to creator in reconnecting with their inner spirit. Our mission is to enhance access to culturally appropriate maternity care, health care and facilitating the path towards spiritual restoration. Central to our work is the nurturing of Indigenous resilience and sovereignty, as we revive and uphold our cultural practices pertaining to reproductive health, familial connections, and the spiritual transition back to creator. We aim to help parents and caregivers to overcome systemic disparities in services and care, dismantle obstacles, and challenge instances of racism faced by Indigenous families in healthcare, the judicial system, and human services.

Yes, we open our heart to everyone in need. Your journey is yours and we are there to support you through your choices.
We work with clients from all walks of life who are committed to personal growth and achieving their goals.
Yes we work with all caregivers, parents and anyone who is raising an Indigenous child. Each situation is treated uniquely and different. We work with foster parents, kinship caregivers, birth parents and the only requirement is raising an Indigenous child.
We have backgrounds in First Nations and settler parenting practices, navigating traditional and western systems and resources, a culturally informed approach to working with peoples impacted by colonialism, and a deep understanding of how children and caregivers are motivated.
We believe that our responsibility to help the next generation to build skills starts with aligning learners' motivations, skills, and practices in ways that mean the most to each person in the circle. We bring a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to every interaction according to traditional ways of learning and knowing, and do not expose the people we work with to colonized, laterally violent approaches, or retraumatizing approaches taken by some programs.
No these are not the same but parenting support can include doula support when a mother is pregnant. Parenting support is a much larger picture and is developed to help each individual. Every individual has needs that are unique to them and we help build that support around each individual. An example is if there is CFS involvement we help support and make sure the parent has full knowledge of what is going on in the situation as well as help them learn the skills they need to when possible. Our ultimate goal is for the child to be reunified with the family when possible and help everyone build an environment around the child to help the child be raised in a way with the best version of their birth parents and family in mind.
